The Westwego Performing Arts Theatre Nears Re-Opening

On August 29, 2012, Hurricane Isaac spawned a tornado which ripped a hole in the roof of the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre (WPAT), allowing water to enter the building, flooding it from the inside and destroying nearly everything in the theatre. Since then, the building has remained shuttered. After nearly four years of fighting to get the restoration of the theater on track, Westwego Mayor Johnny Shaddinger recently signed a contract giving Tuna Construction LLC the “go-ahead” to begin the process. Construction is scheduled to be complete by Christmas 2016, and a grand-reopening is anticipated for the first days of 2017.

Until then, you can enjoy these upcoming JPAS productions at Teatro Wego! For more information, visit www.jpas.org.

The Ultimate Christmas Show (Abridged)

The Ultimate Christmas ShowWelcome to the Annual Holiday Variety Show and Christmas Pageant at St. Everybody’s Non-Denominational Universalist Church, where all faiths are welcome because we’ll believe anything. But there’s a problem: none of the acts scheduled to perform have arrived, so three members are pressed into service to perform the entire Variety Show and Christmas Pageant by themselves. An irreverent yet heartwarming trip through the holidays, THE ULTIMATE CHRISTMAS SHOW (ABRIDGED) is festive, funny, physical, family fun as these Three Wise Guys send up and celebrate our favorite holiday traditions.
