Chief Wingrove has been with the Sheriff’s Office for almost 23 years. After starting in corrections, he attended an academy and was then assigned to the Third District. Chief Wingrove then spent nearly two decades assigned to the Third, working his way from deputy, to follow-up investigations, then sergeant, and lieutenant. Four years ago, he was promoted to Captain and became the commander of the First District.
A few words from Chief Wingrove about his thoughts on the future of Field Operations:
“I am looking forward to bringing energy and a new set of eyes to the Chief’s Office. I want to help move the department deeper into the 21st Century and take advantage of all the technological advances we can. Police work today has more of a community-focused mindset, and policing with empathy, sympathy, and compassion is one of the most important steps we can take,” said Chief Wingrove. “I cannot underestimate the need for us to enhance our social and emotional intelligence, and my goal is for our training to reflect that.”
