Preserve Louisiana calls for Board of Director nominations

Preserve Louisiana, a statewide nonprofit preservation organization headquartered in the Old Governor’s Mansion in Baton Rouge, is accepting nominations for positions on its board of directors to oversee policy and the direction of the organization.

Preserve Louisiana was founded in 1963 as the Foundation for Historical Louisiana and it continues to promote the preservation of the cultural and architectural heritage of Louisiana through education, advocacy and stewardship. Its aim is to promote cultural awareness and encourage economic growth to revitalize communities; seeking to unite community leaders, business people, historians, teachers and preservationists in a coalition approach to historic education and preservation advocacy.

Its comprehensive programming includes monthly lecture series, tour programs, annual preservation awards, rotating exhibitions and K-12 education. The organization’s advocacy efforts span to  local, state and federal governments,  and services include assistance with residential and commercial historic tax credit applications and National Register of Historic Places nominations.

Individuals with a passion for preservation who would like to be considered for a seat on the board of directors are asked to contact Preserve Louisiana’s Executive Director, Fairleigh Cook Jackson, for more information at fairleigh@preserve-louisiana.org.
