New Restaurants on The West Bank

2016 has come to an end and 2017 is here. 2016 brought with it a lot of new places on the Westbank for us all to enjoy. From seafood to coffee, here are a few new locally owned Westbank businesses you should add to your regular rotation.

Big Easy Café and Daiquiris

Located at 1545 Lapalco Blvd in Harvey, Big Easy is not only a daiquiri shop, but a fantastic lunch location as well. With food items such as wings, chicken strips, cheese bites, burgers, wraps, salads and an assortment of different types of fries, you are sure to find something here that will satisfy any craving. They also have daily daiquiri and drink specials including 2 for 1 medium daiquiris on Tuesday, $8 44 ounce daiquiris on Thursday and Saturday and $19 gallons on Sunday. Hours are Sunday through Thursday 11:00 am to 12:00 am and Friday and Saturday 11:00 am to 2:00 am. The drive thru opens at 10:00 am daily. Website: bigeasycafes.com

Reginelli’s Pizzeria

I was so excited when I heard that the Westbank was getting a Reginelli’s. Located in the new business complex located at 1700 Belle Chasse Highway in Gretna, this restaurant is a dream come true. I have always liked Reginelli’s because it’s a local business that serves good, fresh food. You not only get your choice of delicious pizza here, but a wide assortment of salads, sandwiches and pasta as well. My personal favorite thing to order here is the classic combo pizza that comes topped with pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, and black olives. Reginelli’s also has quite a few vegetarian options as well, for the healthier eaters in your family. Hours are Sunday through Thursday 11:00am to 11:00 pm and Friday and Saturday 11:00 am to 12:00 am and their number is 309-7448. Website: reginellis.com

CC’S Coffee House

Also located in the business complex at 1700 Belle Chasse Highway in Gretna is CC’S Coffee House. I feel as if the Westbank has been long overdue for a CC’s location and I’m happy that they have decided to call Gretna home. As a longtime fan of CC’s I couldn’t wait to stop in to get an iced coffee and a Mochasippi. This location gets some major bonus points for having a drive thru, which comes in handy on those mornings when you might be in a rush. Hours are Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 9:00 pm and Saturday and Sunday 7:00 am to 9:00 pm. Website: ccscoffee.com

Lafitte’s Landing Seafood House

Lafitte’s Landing Seafood House is ready to bringing dining out on the Westbank to the next level. Located at 1700 Lapalco Blvd. in Harvey, Lafitte’s Landing is the perfect place for lunch or dinner, whether you are celebrating a special occasion or you just want to enjoy a night out with family and friends. Some of the seafood stars on the menu include oysters- char grilled, on the half shell, or Rockefeller, as well as a selection of lobster, mussels, snow crab and shrimp. Additional offerings include fried seafood platters, jambalaya, shrimp and grits, shrimp creole and crawfish etouffee. No matter what type of seafood or “New Orleans” style dish you might be craving, Lafitte’s Landing Seafood House has you covered.  Hours are Sunday through Saturday 11:00 to 10:00 pm. Legacy Steak & Chop

Another new restaurant that I am eager to try is Legacy Steak & Chop. Located at 91 Westbank Expressway in Gretna, this is the newest location in the local Legacy Kitchen chain. A few menu items that I’m excited about include fried chicken and waffles, Iowa pork porterhouse, and the filet mignon. I’m a sucker for a good steak and Legacy Steak & Chop gives you the option of topping yours with your choice of grilled shrimp, jumbo lump crabmeat, or blue cheese, among other goodies. Steak & Chop also offers an extensive wine, beer and cocktail menu, making it the perfect destination for your next night out on the town. Hours are Monday through Thursday 11:00 am to 1:30 pm for lunch and 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm for dinner and Friday through Sunday 11:00 am to 10:00 pm. Website: legacykitchen.com
