Grand Opening of Lafitte Seafood Market

The Town of Jean Lafitte celebrated the grand opening of Lafitte’s Seafood Pavilion and Market on Saturday, July 15, 2017.

The Grand Opening included a ribbon cutting ceremony, followed by music by Amanda Shaw and food and drinks by local restaurants. The event was attended by nearly 1,000 participants.

“This is a tremendous economic development tool for our fisheries” said Town of Jean Lafitte Mayor Tim Kerner.

The kickoff included food from local restaurants and music by Amanda Shaw. “We are looking forward to this being the beginning of many more events at this wonderful facility right along the bayou in Jean Lafitte.” added Mayor Kerner. Those interested in future events should contact the Town or Jean Lafitte at 504-689-2299.

The Seafood Pavilion features booths for fishermen to sell directly to the public, and the Market includes a stage for live music and an area for seating as well as eating facilities and a deck-covered patio overlooking Bayou Barataria.

The following officials were present at the ribbon cutting ceremony: Jean Lafitte Mayor Timothy Kerner, Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, State Senator John Alario, Jefferson Parish President Mike Yenni, Jefferson Parish Councilman Ricky Templet and Jefferson Parish Council Chairman Chris Roberts.
