Fall Home Maintenance Checklist

Every season, our south Louisiana homes experience sometimes drastic changes in temperatures, weather conditions, on top of normal aging and wear and tear. Seasonal maintenance on your home is suggested in order to keep all your components of your home operating well and dependably, and to avoid costly repairs in the long run.

Home experts recommend the following maintenance tips for the month of September:

  • Check exterior finishes
  • Check garage door tracks and lubricate bearings
  • Check caulking for air and water leaks
  • Plant new lawn
  • Check fireplace and chimney
  • Check basement or crawl spaces
  • Have humidifier, furnace and HRV serviced
  • Check clothes dryer vent
  • Check and reset ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI)
  • Test smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors
