Crime is Down in Unincorporated Jefferson in 2009

As 2009 draws to a close, law enforcement officials say that Jefferson Parish continues to be one of the safest communities of its size in the nation. A close look at statistics maintained by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office shows a 2.3 percent decrease in the seven major categories of crime in the first ten months of 2009 as compared to 2008. Interestingly, crime is also down when compared to a pre-Hurricane Katrina year such as 2003.
