Breast Cancer Awareness Month Events

“I Pink I Can, I Pink I Can” Fun Run/Walk

The 3rd annual “I Pink I Can, I Pink I Can” 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2016. RAIN OR SHINE. All proceeds will benefit the Cancer Center at West Jefferson Medical Center. The West Jeff Fitness Centers join the West Jefferson Hospital Foundation for this charitable Fun Run/Walk. As the philanthropic arm of the community hospital based in Marrero, LA, the WJ Hospital Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to raising private funds to enhance patient care and person-centered services. Last year, more than 500 participants, including many survivors and their families, took part in the second “I Pink I Can, I Pink I Can” Fun Run/Walk which was sponsored by Humana. An extraordinary family festival with live music and great food followed the race attracting tens of thousands more in support of the Cancer Center at West Jefferson and the patients it serves. Komen New Orleans Race for the Cure©

The New Orleans chapter of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure© will hold its 20th Annual Komen New Orleans Race for the Cure© on Saturday, October 22, in New Orleans City Park. It is a 5K (3.1 mile) run fitness walk and 1 mile fun run fitness walk. The cost to participate on race day is $40 (adults), $30 (teens 13-17), and $25 (kids 12 and under). Proceeds will fund breast cancer education, screening, and treatment projects in the New Orleans Metro Area (about 75 percent of proceeds) and will help fund the organization’s national award and research grant program (about 25 percent of the proceeds).
