Benefit for Westwego Police Officer Michael Louviere

A benefit for the family of fallen Westwego Police Officer Michael Louviere was held on Sunday 3/26/17 at the Westwego Farmers and Fisheries Market. Organizers partnered with the Westwego Police Benevolent Association to plan and host this event. Addition to the food and drink booths, which were all sponsored by local police and fire departments, there were several local bands that performed. A motorcycle “Poker Run” with roughly 300 riders and a car show with approximately 150 cars took place as well which helped to make this event a huge success.

Organizers were very pleased with the turnout and overwhelming support. Farmers Market Officials believe this may have been a record breaking crowd with over 1,000 in attendance. Officer Louviere’s wife Ashley, daughter Kinley and son Elijah attended the event and also assisted with choosing the “Crowd Favorite Car” and pulling the winning ticket for the custom made cypress glider.
