Ascot Road Officially Renamed in Honor of Detective David Michel, Jr.

The street where Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective David Michel, Jr. was fatally shot now officially bears his name.

Jefferson Parish Councilman Mark Spears introduced a proposal to legally rename Ascot Road in Harvey in honor of Michel, who served with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for almost ten years before his untimely death at Ascot Road while on duty on June 22nd. It was approved 7-0 by the Jefferson Parish Council on August 24th.

No addresses will be affected by the name change because there are no homes or businesses on the one block street, located off Manhattan Boulevard in Harvey at the Kensington Gardens entrance.
