Created in 2013, the Friends of the Cabildo Concert Series has brought together some of the best musicians from New Orleans and Louisiana to perform and archive their music for the Louisiana State Museum’s music collection. Join us for a unique musical experience at the intimate 150-seat, state of the art Old U.S. Mint 3rd Floor Performance Hall. Single concert tickets: $25 General Admission, FOC/LMF Members: $20. Series Tickets: $150 General Admission, FOC/LMF Members: $120. A cash bar will be available at all concerts.

Nayo Jones Sings Natalie Cole

Nayo Jones will perform a Natalie Cole tribute concert at the New Orleans Jazz Museum on Wednesday, January 24 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.50 and available at the door (cash) or online. Nayo Jones (pronounced Nīyō) was born in Chicago, Illinois into a family of musicians and destined to be in show business. Her parents noticed her musical gift at an early age. As an accomplished jazz musician and music educator, her father William “Doc” Jones groomed and nurtured her natural ability from the very beginning. Thanks to her father’s love of jazz, Ms. Jones grew up listening to standards that proved to be a solid foundation and would later become a signature in her own show. Nayo Jones is featured on the latest album release by Kermit Ruffins, #imsoneworleans. Her body of work also includes her first original album “My Name is Nayo Jones”, a “Holiday Collection” and her EP simply titled “Nayo”. Jones is currently in the studio working on her first Jazz album.

Billie Davies

Place: New Orleans Jazz Museum, 400 Esplanade Ave., New Orleans
Time: 8 – 9:30 p.m.
Billie Davies will perform at New Orleans Jazz Museum on Wednesday, January 31 from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.50 and can be purchased at the door (cash) or online. Billie Davies’ 2012 release of “All about Love” solidified her position as a professional jazz musician. This recording of standards and original music, charted #1 in CMJ Jazz College Radio Charts for ‘top jazz add’ in new albums and went on to stay in the top 20 for 4 weeks. In October, 2013 Billie released “12 VOLT” which garnered national and international attention. In March of 2014 she moved to New Orleans where she has graced stages ever since and where she recorded her album “Hand In Hand In The Hand Of The Moon” in 2015.

Place: Rosedown Plantation State Historic Site, St. Francisville
Time: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on the hour

Vigilantes on the Bayou
Date: January 27
Place: Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site, St. Martinville
Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the hour
During the mid-1800s in South Louisiana, Acadian farmers were being pushed off their lands by bands of vigilantes made up of wealthier Creoles and les Americans. The vigilantes used threats and false accusations against the small farmers to seize their land. See how hostilities reached their peak during a 1 p.m. reenactment at the Acadian Farmstead.
