Programs were designed to educate contractors and other building professionals about how their activities affect storm water quality and what can be done to decrease pollutants in runoff from construction sites. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) stated, “The department applauds your commitment towards improving the quality of Louisiana’s environment through your pollution prevention, waste reduction, or environmental stewardship efforts.”
