South of the Border… On the Westbank

Recently I was on the hunt for some good Mexican-style food and I found myself in Algiers at El Paso Mexican Grill, located at 3010 Holiday Drive. This local chain serves up Tex-Mex style food made from family recipes with fresh ingredients.

On the day that I stopped in, I was in the mood for a burrito. I decided to get the Burrito Supreme platter, which is a beef burrito with beans and cheese, topped with lettuce, tomatoes and guacamole and served with rice on the side, for just under $10. The platter was delicious- the beef was seasoned well and full of flavor, the cheese was perfectly melted and I could immediately tell that all of the ingredients were fresh. Each bite of this dish seemed better than the last as the flavors melded together and complimented each other.  I greatly enjoyed the entire meal and it might be one of the better Mexican platters I have had in a long time. I am putting El Paso Mexican Grill on the top of my “favorites” list for this dish alone.

If you are in the mood for something else, El Paso Mexican Grill serves a variety of other Tex-Mex goodies such as fajitas, enchiladas, tacos, tamales, flautas and chimichangas. If you happen to be dining with some folks who aren’t quite in the mood for Tex-Mex, a burger and a chicken sandwich are also on the menu. Honestly, the menu here is so extensive, that it would be impossible for me to list all the delectable food that they offer.

One thing that I really like about El Paso Mexican Grill is the fact that they have an “a la carte” menu. You can pick your favorites and mix and match to build the perfect meal. Everything on this menu is reasonably priced and perfect if you are just in the mood for a small bite to eat without breaking your budget.

El Paso Mexican Grill also offers many lunch menu items an affordable price. Some standouts for me are the El Paso Favorito which is a burrito, a beef taco, an enchilada and a chalupa for $8.99 and the taco salad which comes in a fried shell filled with lettuce, tomato, cheese, guacamole and sour cream and your choice of meat. They also have a wide selection of fajitas, burritos, enchiladas and quesadillas on the lunch menu. No matter what you are craving, you are sure to find something that will satisfy you at El Paso Mexican Grill.

I was happy to visit this restaurant in the heart of Algiers. Home cooked Tex-Mex food, that you can enjoy with your family, is the perfect addition to the Westbank restaurant scene.
